Cadillac has historically produced successful luxury mid-size sedans, with the performance-oriented 2019 Cadillac CTS V being a notable gem. With the entry of the all-new 2023 Cadillac CT5, we will highlight the main differences between these two vehicles so you can decide whether to upgrade to the all-new 2023 Cadillac CT5.
2019 Cadillac CTS vs. 2023 Cadillac CT5
The Cadillac CT5 has been completely redesigned for 2023, and there are some significant changes from the previous generation. The 2023 Cadillac CT5 is available in three model trims, Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport. The 2019 Cadillac CTS was available in Luxury, Premium Luxury, and V-Sport model trims.
With a number of key similarities and notable differences, the battle between these two mid-size sedans will ultimately come down to preference. Both vehicles are excellent choices for a luxurious sedan, offering comfortable rides, performance, and luxury, all in a stylish design. In addition, both have leather seats and steering wheels, and their interiors boast stylish wooden trim. You also get to enjoy standard features such as climate control, cruise control, and a host of safety and driver assist features such as rear parking aid and tire pressure monitor when you purchase any of the vehicles. However, it’s important to note that the main differences between the new 2023 Cadillac CT5 and the 2019 Cadillac CTS are in performance and design.
CTS vs. CT5: Design Enhancements
The 2023 Cadillac CT5 features a variety of design enhancements that make it a significant upgrade over the 2019 Cadillac CTS. For starters, the front end has been completely redesigned, giving the car a more modern look. The grille is now wider and taller, and the headlights and tail lights have been slimmed down and made more angular. The result is a car that looks sportier and more aggressive than its predecessor. In addition, the CTS lacks a lot of must-have modern technology essentials like a heads-up display and a host of other driver assist features, making it less superior in terms of the overall design.
CTS vs. CT5: Performance Specs
While both come standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, they greatly differ in terms of performance. The CT5’s base 4-cylinder engine produces 237 horsepower and 258lb-ft of torque, while the CTS engine gives 265 horsepower and 295lb-ft of torque. The CT5 engine is backed by a 10-speed automatic transmission while the CTS has an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Besides the fact that it has more horsepower than the CT5, the lower curb weight, sport-tuned suspension, traction and stability controls, and sharper handling all contribute to its good performance.
It’s also worth noting that the CTS has better engine options, with the standard being the 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine and the top option being a 6.2L supercharged V8 engine found in the CTS V, with 640 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque. In contrast, the top engine option on a CT5 is a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine producing 360 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque.
Deciding Between the CTS and CT5
If you’re trying to decide between the Cadillac CTS and CT5, there are a few key things to keep in mind. The CTS is an older model, so it might not have all the bells and whistles of the newer CT5. However, it’s still a luxurious car and would make a great addition to any garage.
Generally, the choice between these two icons depends on your needs and preference. For example, if you’re looking for maximum performance for the price, the CTS would be your choice. However, if you’re more into luxury, driving convenience, and newer technology, then the new 2023 Cadillac CT5 would be a worthy purchase with its standard driver-assisted technology.
Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing: Specs and Features
The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is the high-performance variant of the Cadillac CT5 and is currently the most powerful Cadillac ever produced. It is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.2L V8 engine that produces 668 hp and 659 lb-ft of torque. The CT5-V Blackwing clocks 0-60 in 3.7 seconds, reaching an enviable top speed of over 200 mph. It comes standard with rear-wheel drive and 6-speed manual transmission, but all-wheel drive and/or a 10-speed automatic transmission are available as an option.
Other features include Magnetic Ride Control adaptive suspension dampers, heads-up display, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking, active steering, and variable-ratio steering rack, among a host of other driver assist features. Standard features on the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing include LED headlights, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated comfortable front seats, climate control, panoramic sunroof, heated exterior mirrors with turn signal indicators, heated steering wheel, 19-inch alloy wheels with high-performance tires.
The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is definitely a formidable foe for any vehicle in its class, such as the best of the BMW 5 Series, the BMW M5, and the Mercedes-AMG E63.

What Cadillacs 2022 Models have a V8?

What Cadillac 2022 Models have a V8?
Everyone loves the sound of a naturally aspirated V8, especially when it’s a new Cadillac. The V8 is lighter and more compact for the amount of power compared to other engine designs. It has maintained popularity because of its excellent horsepower and torque characteristics, and when paired with a Cadillac, there are few experiences like it. We could give you many reasons why the V8 is one of the most sought-after engines available in a Cadillac, but the powerful engine note is plenty of reason enough. Cadillac engineers have spent decades refining the sound, power, and reliability of the Cadillac V8 engine. A truly memorable experience rewards their efforts.
So what Cadillac 2022 Models have a V8?
The 2022 Cadillac Escalade
Luxury is at its most refined in the 2022 Cadillac Escalade. A 10-speed gearbox harnessing 420 HP from the naturally aspirated V8 engine gives the 2022 Cadillac Escalade powertrain a unique feeling of power and control. Of course, if you don’t want the gas-guzzling V8, you could go with the turbocharged inline-6 diesel motor, but that isn’t why you are reading this article. Instead, a 620 HP, 6.2-liter supercharged V8 powered Cadillac Escalade V is expected to debut soon. So if you want even more power, you might want to pre-register for that version of the 2022 Cadillac Escalade.
The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing
The 2022 Cadillac Blackwing is sure to be one of the most desirable vehicles of the year, and for very good reason.
For the last hurrah of Gas-powered Cadillac V Models, they wanted to go out with a roar, and they delivered. The 2022 Cadillac Blackwing is the new CT5-V performance sedan, and it features a jaw-dropping 668-HP supercharged 6.2-liter V8. It’s even available with a manual transmission. This Cadillac Blackwing has many structural enhancements, and the engineers have done extensive aerodynamic work to reduce drag and push the CT5 to breathtaking speeds of 200+ mph.
The Blackwing models will likely be the last gasoline-powered models in the Cadillac V-series lineup as Cadillac pivots to electric vehicles. That’s why Cadillac has pulled out all the stops to make the most capable V model ever, and it comes with a manual transmission. You read that correctly; the 668-HP supercharged 6.2-liter V8 comes standard with a Tremec TR6060 6 speed gearbox. The Blackwing name stands for the pinnacle of Cadillac performance.
Cadillac promises a 3.7 second zero to 60 when you go with the optional quick-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission.

The winter months are hard on cars. Cold temperatures, dirt, and road-salt residue can all cause a wide variety of issues ranging from cosmetic to functional. Winterizing your car is a great way to protect it against many of these, provided you go about it the right way.
Why Is Winterizing Your Car Important?
There are several reasons to winterize your car. One is that it can prevent damage that results from cold-weather exposure. Road-salt runoff can cause corrosion in the engine bay, as well as under the chassis-which means that any exposed metal parts are subject to rust and pitting. In addition, if your vehicle isn’t driven as often it can suffer from reduced lubrication which, over time, can cause damage to the engine.
Similarly, low temperatures make for challenging operating conditions. When the temperature drops, the engine could have issues starting up as cold-start conditions limit your car’s ability to vaporize the fuel. On top of this, icy roads and reduced visibility dramatically increase the likelihood of accidents without proper preparation.
How To Winterize Your Car
Winterizing is a general term that describes the process of getting a car ready for the cold, winter months. With that being said, the process isn’t one-size-fits-all. How you go about winterizing your car will depend on the kind of vehicle you drive, how old it is, and where you live. Still, there are a few common practices that have a huge impact on safety and damage reduction during the winter months:
Installing Winter Wipers
Winter wipers are essential for removing the mud and salt from your car’s windshield. They’re usually larger, more durable, and able to remove ice from your windshield in seconds.
Installing Winter Tires
When winter weather hits, it’s sometimes hard to tell if roads have been salted or not. Driving on a bare road is a lot safer than driving a road that has a layer of snow or ice visible on top of it. Installing winter tires keeps you safe by providing better traction on slippery surfaces than all-season tires would provide. In case you’re not convinced, a Canadian study recently found that universal adoption of winter tires reduces winter traffic accidents by 5%.
Getting Your Fluids Checked and Filled
Cold weather makes for challenging conditions under the hood of your car, so it’s important to check and fill your fluids before the winter weather hits. One common winter-time fluid issue is leakage. If you see signs of leakage on the ground underneath your car, that means that your coolant (usually green or orange in color) has frozen solid thanks to temperature deprivation. Similarly, oil can become thicker in cold-weather months lose some of its lubricating ability if not changed beforehand. It’s important to address these issues before they become major problems.
Checking and Replacing Your Battery
Most batteries for cars simply aren’t designed to handle the cold. That means that without pre-winter maintenance, your car could die at the moment when you least expect it.
You can check and replace your battery yourself if you have the tools and knowledge required. Otherwise, take it to your local auto shop and let them do it for you so you don’t damage anything.
Investing In an Emergency Kit
An emergency kit for your car can make all the difference when you get stranded. This should include at least one full-size spare tire, a handful of ice scrapers, fluid containers (including windshield washer fluid), jumper cables, and a flashlight with batteries.
Winterizing Your Car Is Important for Preventing Damage
There are several reasons why it’s important to invest in winterizing your car. Primarily, it helps prevent damage from the cold weather that most drivers deal with during the winter months. By investing in a few supplies and doing regular maintenance, you’re reducing the chances of costly – or downright dangerous – issues popping up.

Why lease a vehicle?

Buying or leasing, it’s an age-old debate and is probably one of the most controversial topics frequently discussed in automotive and financial circles. “You Need To Buy! It’s the only sensible choice” or “Only Idiots would buy a vehicle, leasing it is the way to go!” are probably phrases you’ve heard in your life. It’s unfortunate that people are so polarized over leasing or buying a vehicle when the truth is a little more complex than that.
For some people, leasing or buying is strictly a matter of money. For others, it’s more about their connection to their vehicle. Either way, you will be in this vehicle for potentially years, so it’s essential to take some time to make sure you pick the option that is right for you.
Buying vs. Leasing a Car
Leasing a vehicle is essentially renting it from a dealer for a predetermined amount of time. Then, when your lease period ends, you have the option of returning or purchasing your trusty vehicle. (For a predetermined amount, of course!)
Buying a vehicle means that you skip the rental period and hop straight into ownership and all of the expenses that go along with that. Leases generally have a determined number of miles you can drive annually. Most leases come with a 10,000-mile yearly allowance. The monthly payment will go up slightly if you end up driving more than your yearly allotment. If you drive more than the mileage limit in the contract, you’ll owe cash for every extra mile when your lease ends.
However, the monthly payments for a lease are usually lower than it would be for you to get a purchase loan on it. You aren’t building any equity in the vehicle, though, which is why generally, the rule of thumb is to buy a cheap car and lease an expensive one. The depreciation that would hit an expensive vehicle could overcome any equity you might have otherwise built if you purchased it. Plus, you can buy the vehicle at the end of your lease for the pre-arranged price. This is determined by Residual Value and is essentially how much the vehicle is worth at the end of your lease agreement with depreciation taken into account.
When you lease a vehicle, you might have to put some money down. The more you put down, the cheaper your monthly lease payment will be. Keep your eyes open, though, because often, manufacturers will discount leases to try to move unsold inventory. You might be able to get a great deal with an incentive that makes leasing a no-brainer!
If you are interested in learning more about our current leases, click here to see what is currently available for our dealership!
It may not make financial sense to put a lot of cash down on a vehicle that you will hand back to the dealer. But, on the other hand, if you’re pretty sure you’re going to keep the vehicle when the lease expires, it will save you money at that point.
Leasing also gives you the opportunity to spring for a more luxurious car than you would otherwise be able to afford! The payments on leases are usually considerably less expensive than purchasing.
The biggest disadvantage to leasing vs. buying is that you don’t acquire any equity in the vehicle. It’s much like renting an apartment. You make the monthly payments but have no claims to ownership. This can hurt future vehicle purchases because you won’t have a trade-in to reduce the cost of the next one.
For lots of people, there isn’t any feeling in the world like cruising off the lot with that new car smell. If that sounds like you, leasing could very well be the way to go.
Another big advantage to leasing is that you often get a warranty that lasts the entire length of your lease. Meaning most of your repairs should be covered, thereby largely reducing the risks of significant vehicle repairs.
There are also tax considerations. Are you using your vehicle for business purposes? Leasing will often give you more tax write-offs than a loan would. That’s because you are allowed to deduct both the depreciation and financing costs for each monthly payment. However, remember that leasing luxury automobiles generally limit how much you are allowed to write off.
There are many benefits and drawbacks to both leasing a vehicle and buying a vehicle. However, you need to let your lifestyle determine which is the best choice for you.
Obviously, the issue is a bit more complicated than a blanket ‘Do’ or ‘Don’t’ for your situation. Are you feeling a bit overwhelmed? Don’t stress about it, our friendly staff of vehicle sales specialists is waiting by to help you talk through the decision. They can give you real numbers on leasing vs. buying and help you through every step of the way. From finding the perfect vehicle to financing your way off the lot with it.

If you get stuck waiting for a tow truck or can’t leave work for lunch due to inclement weather, having some extra snacks and water in your vehicle could be useful. Granola bars, trail mix, or a box of crackers are all affordable options to keep in your car. Keeping water in your vehicle will help keep you from getting dehydrated if you’re in a situation where you’re waiting for help. Keeping a case of bottled water in the back of your vehicle will also help add more weight to your vehicle to prevent sliding.
Make sure your vehicle is up-to-date on all routine maintenance
Making sure your car is up-to-date on routine maintenance is crucial for your safety and the longevity of your vehicle. At Cable Dahmer Cadillac of Kansas City, we check all your fluids and top-off any that are needed, check your tire pressure, and refill your windshield washer fluid with freeze resistance fluid. The last thing anyone wants is to be stalled on the side of the road, or have low tire pressure while navigating slick roads. Being proactive and taking care of seemingly little things will save you stress and headaches down the road!
Sand or Kitty Litter
This one might seem odd, but hear us out. We suggest you keep one of these items in the back of your vehicle for a couple of different reasons. One of the reasons is, sand and kitty litter are coarse materials, if you were to get stuck you can easily spread the material on the ground by your tires, so your tires have something to help them grip onto to help get you unstuck. The other reason we suggest keeping these materials handy in your vehicle is to help weigh down the back of your vehicle to reduce fishtailing and sliding. Specifically in the back of compact or sedan cars, and trucks with a light bed.
Jumper Cables
Being in a situation where you need jumper cables is never a fun one. However, keeping a set in your vehicle will help eliminate at least one step to get your car going again. A dead battery is a common car issue so, you can easily find jumper cables at most stores that have an automotive department. Our service techs at Cable Dahmer Cadillac of Kansas City suggest having your battery tested whenever you come in for routine maintenance. Knowing the current condition of your battery will help you be proactive and get your battery replaced if it needs it. If you’ve recently had your vehicle serviced but would like your battery tested, no worries! We will test your battery for free!
